Who or what inspires you most in life?

Welcome to another Topical Tuesday! This week we would like to read your opinion on the 3D craziness happening out there. This is 3D week for the British Channel 4 and they will be broadcasting different shows and films in 3D. People can get hold of the 3D glasses required to watch the 3D content for free from supermarkets across the country but this is only the most recent instance of the 3D madness. Last week, inspired by the Channel 4′s “3D week”, BBC Radio 1′s Scott Mills asked people on the street to wear those 3D glasses and then proceeded to question them on whether they preferred to see the world in 3D (meaning through the 3D glasses). Yes, it’s silly but that’s how big a topic we’ve let it become so we’d like to bring the conversation over to you!

Is seeing a film in 3D (using those special glasses) important to you or something you really enjoy? Do you think it’s the same old fad coming back? Does it make things better or is it a gimmick?

Here at Topical Tuesday, we strongly dislike Mondays (hate is too harsh a word… apparently). So from now on our weeks start on Tuesday! Won’t you join us? We should let you know that this is only phase one of the master plan to completely get rid of that horrid day that starts with M. We’ll only say one thing. Don’t buy your calendars just yet.

Hello, hello HELLOOOOO! Welcome back to another edition of Topical Tuesday! We have something very exciting to announce today. We understood that giving you a topic for a day is not enough. I mean, the one day is not enough, not the topic. We figured it would be better to instead have the topics run from Tuesdays and last until the next Monday instead of just the one day. This way you can write and post your entries on your blog on whichever day you wish and until the next topic is announced. Isn’t this much better? We will be trialling this starting today and through November but we believe this is a change that will be welcomed by all. Remember nothing is stopping you to post your entries on Tuesday but now you have more freedom to fit the topic into your blogging schedule/frequency.

To kick things off, this week’s topic is: Is it Christmas already!? Now, before you jump me and try to kill me with mince pies, let me clarify. I have been seeing Christmas decorations and adverts creep up around me through October. What do you have to say about Christmas becoming so commersialised that it’s “on sale” 2 months in advance? Or is this something you like? More time to do your Xmas shopping and cross things off your list?

In tribute to Pink October and Breast Cancer Awareness month we are going pink, not just in our design – but in our topics.

Firstly we kick off with the most logical of topics – Breast Cancer tales. Most people know, or have known, an individual who has suffered from Breast Cancer.  If you have a tale to share, we would appreciate it if you would take part in Topical Tuesday today, and do precisely that.

Also, do not forget that this is also Boobiethon Tuesday and the last day to take part! So if you have no stories to tell (which is unlikely since we all know someone who had to deal with Breast Cancer) we urge you to take a photo of your boobs (female or male, it doesn’t matter) and post it to your blogs and/or to the Boobiethon website. Heck, why not do this anyway? Go on! These guys are raising money for Breast Cancer Research and awareness on the issue of Breast Cancer. Show them some love!

I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who took part in the last edition of Topical Tuesday.  After such a significant period of inactivity we did not expect a great rush – but we´re working on it!

So here are a few highlights from those who took part, and those who commented via other peoples.

I DO feel, however, that the billions upon billions of dollars of profit made by insurance companies at the expense of the people that they’re supposed to be protecting could be better spent. If the government can take over health insurance and run it as a non-profit enterprise so that people can actually afford to have coverage for treatment when they get sick… well, that’s pretty hard to argue against. Everyone should get basic Health Care for a nominal fee that is determined by their IRS return each year. Not working for a Fortune 500 Company? You pay less. Making a cool 2 Mil a year? You pay more (up to a sane cap of course) that’s how it works in Canada. Abraxus, Comment at Therapy in the Making

Ultimately, a free health service was introduced in both countries to service those most in need, the poor. Why not means test health service care? In order words, a health service that is free to the those at the lower end of the income scale, and those who can afford to pay have a choice. They either contribute to the Government Health Service or, if they prefer, utilise the vast private sector. Its a simplified way of looking at things, but it could work if managed correctly. To cut a long story short, France has a healthcare system where the more serious illnesses are treated free, I think it was 100. I seem to remember that healthcare insurance had to be purchased for the none life threatening illnesses. Perhaps this is the way to go for those healthcare systems that have financial problems, ie Spain. Mizmoe

Health care has been in the headlines quite a bit recently.  In the United States, the government is getting into what has been, until now, a completely private sector.  Now, the government wishes to require that every person have health insurance – or pay a penalty fee.  In the United States, in any event.  Health care is also been in the news in other countries as well.  Bring us your opinion on Health Care.  For your country, for what the government of the United States is proposing, whatever resonates most soundly within you.  Do you think the government should have anything to do with Health Care?  Should it be government mandated?  Or should it remain in the private sector?

Well how could it be avoided. Everyone is talking about the Oscars. Who are your winners? Who should be the losers? This is your chance to give the awards you want to the ones you really wanted to win. Who would they be?

There used to be a time when we had celebrities because we liked them but this is no longer the case. People become (or are made into) celebrities for all the wrong reasons, leading to them being hated by us mere mortals. Who is the celebrity you dislike most? And even though a two word post (“Paris Hilton”) would be very valid I’m sure you can do better than that.

This week’s Topical Tuesday is all about the environment. In essense, its all about your thoughts on the state of our environment.
